A/B Roll

In video editing, a device comprising two video sources (such as videotapes or videodiscs) and a single video recorder. The operator switches between the two input video signals by means of a digital video effects generator to add special transitions such as wipes and dissolves between different scenes. Digital video editing software such as Adobe Premiere also allows a type of A/B roll editing or transitioning between different video signals.
