    Advanced Peer-to-Peer Networking

A network protocol used in IBM's Systems Network Architecture that allows connected nodes to communicate without the need for a centralized host. APPN also features dynamic routing, and is used on a variety of networks, such as Ethernet, Token Ring, FDDI, ISDN, etc. APPN is based on the older Advanced Program-to-Program Communication.
