    Aromatic Solvent

A variety of hydrocarbon compounds containing one or more benzene (or equivalent heterocyclic ring) structures, also usually characterized by an agreeable smell. Aromatic compounds such as toluene and xylene make excellent solvents for use in printing inks. However, air pollution laws have drastically restricted their use.
