    Beam Splitter

In imaging, an optical device used to split a beam of light into two or more separate beams and redirect them. For example, a beam splitter in a color scanner divides the input into red, green, and blue beams and points each at a photomultiplier tube. An output beam splitter can divide a light beam into as many as ten beams, one to each modulator.
