    Bounce

An erratic rotation of a printing press cylinder—such as a plate cylinder, blanket cylinder, or impression cylinder—that results in defective impressions, caused by inconsistent reactions to plate or blanket compression under impression pressures. Also known as whip.

In typography, the term bounce refers to a typeset line containing alternating characters in an up and down position.

In data communications, the term bounce refers to the return of an e-mail message. Such a return can be due to an error with the recipient's mail server, a discontinued e-mail account, or a typo on the part of the sender.
