    Bump Exposure

In halftone photography, a very brief exposure of a continuous tone image without the use of a halftone screen (usually used in conjunction with the main exposure using the screen), performed to increase the size of the highlight and middle tone dots while not affecting the shadow dots, thus compressing the screen range of the image. The length of a bump exposure is often 5:10% of that of the main exposure.
