    CCD Scanner

    In imaging, a scanner containing a CCD array rather than photomultiplier tubes. A CCD scanner can either be color, grayscale, or black-and-white. CCD scanners use two CCD arrays, each possessing 2,048 photosites. Consequently, a total of 4,096 photosites can capture 4,096 pixels across each scan line. See CCD and CCD Array.
