    Cold Reboot

A drastic means of restarting a computer by depressing the reset button, turning it off and on again, or unplugging it and plugging it back in again. Such means of restarting are often required when applications or systems "freeze," but they can cause hardware and/or software damage and are only recommended as a last resort. Also known as a hard reset. See also Warm Reboot. Not to be confused with a Cold Boot.
