    Cold Type

In typography, type produced by any means other than that used to make hot metal type. There is some debate about whether photographic typesetting should be included under the name "cold type;" there are those who would prefer that it refer solely to strike-on, manual, or transfer lettering. The point may now be moot, however, as type is increasingly being set digitally.
