    Color Substitution

A means of adding extra-trinary colors to process color printing. Color substitution replaces one or more of the traditional cyan, magenta, or yellow primary colors with colors more closely matching special colors found in the original image. Color subsitution is widely used in packaging. See Extra-Trinary Color. (See also Touch Plate and Bump Plate.)
