    Comprehensive

A stage in the page layout and design process consisting of a detailed dummy or layout of the page to be reproduced, showing the exact placement of page elements (text, illustrations, etc.) in a form comparable to that of the final print. Many desktop publishing systems can easily generate comprehensives, commonly with low-resolution black-and-white versions of images. A comprehensive is commonly referred to as a comp.
