In three-dimensional (3D) animation, a means of simulating the reflection of light from a 3D object in which six photographs of the object are taken and projected on the six inside faces of a cube. The object itself is then placed in a side cube, and the reflections of light on the object are generated by bitmapped images representing the outside world. See Mapping.
