    Cyrillic

In typography, the alphabet used in Russian and other Slavic languages, brought to Eastern Europe by St. Cyril (c. 827:869), although it is unknown whether or not he actually invented it. Cyril was a Greek-born missionary whose attempts to Christianize Slavic peoples in central Europe resulted in a translation of the Bible into Slavic utilizing a modified Greek alphabet known as Cyrillic. Cyrillic is available in a wide variety of typefaces.
