    EAROM

    (electrically alterable read-only memory) A type of memory that combines the characteristics of RAM and read-only memory. It is non-volatile, like read-only memory, but can be written into by the processor. It can only be reprogrammed a limited number of times.

    A specialized read-only memory with a special slow-write cycle and a much faster read cycle, used with microprocessors and microcomputers.
