    Electron Gun

In a cathode-ray tube, a electrostatic device used to shoot and focus a beam of electrons (or a cathode ray) on the back of a phosphor-coated screen. The action of the electron beam causes the phosphors to glow, producing an image. In an RGB monitor or color television, there are three electron guns, one for the red, one for the green, and one for the blue components of an image.
