    Endplay

A lateral movement of an offset press ink roller's shaft within its bracket, caused by excessive wear and/or poor fit. The lateral movement, if more than 0.02 inch, can cause printing defects such as slurring and streaking. Endplay can be stopped with the use of shims, but only if there is no possibility for increased wear to damage the shaft or bracket (or other parts of the roller) irretrievably. (See also Play.)
