    Ergonomics

The study of the human body and the effects of machines on it, especially for the purposes of designing productive and healthy work environments. Ergonomics studies the effect of keyboard arrangements (especially as it affects the occurrence of carpal-tunnel syndrome and other repetitive-stress disorders), monitor placement, chair comfort, illumination levels, etc. A device described as "ergonomic" has purportedly been designed in accordance with principles of health, comfort, and productivity.
