    Ethyl Alcohol

The most common type of alcohol—chemical formula C2H5OH—obtained from the yeast fermentation of some carbohydrates (such as grains, molasses, starch, or sugar, for example), or produced synthetically. It has a wide variety of uses, from solvents in printing inks to beverages. Also called ethanol.
