    Explode

    To substitute a lengthy sequence of codes for an abbreviated sequence, usually to see more reliably what is occurring in the program.

    To separate out data elements and rearrange them in a different sequence, such as to take a library entry of "author, title, subject" and represent the same data under the separate headings of "author," "title," and "subject."

    Style feature, usually used with pie charts, to move one slice of the pie out of the circle to give it emphasis.
