    Glass

A hard, brittle, noncrystalline (and usually transparent) material produced from the melting and fusion of silica and other silicates. Glass is essentially a very viscous liquid and is thus seemingly solid. Glass is used in a wide variety of materials, from camera lenses to light bulbs, to windows to protective covers on camera copyboards, etc.

The term glass is also an abbreviated term for a magnifying glass.
