    Halftone Cell

In digital halftone production, a halftone dot generated on an imagesetter or laser printer, comprising a collection of smaller printer spots. Since digital output devices generate images as a series of very small spots, each halftone dot must be composed of smaller printer spots. These printer spots are arranged in discrete "cells" or grids, which correspond to the halftone dots. The number of printer spots in a particular cell can be varied; the more printer spots that are grouped in a halftone cell, the darker the larger the cell appears.
