    Ice Cap

A cooling unit installed in computers running with an Intel 80486 microprocessor, used to prevent overheating. Fast processors (i.e., those with speeds of over 33 megahertz) have the potential to generate heat that can raise the temperature above 85o Celsius, which can promote system malfunctions or even a breakdown. The ice cap keeps the processor at a constant temperature of 20:25oC.
