    Jitter

Any instability in a video, electronic, or electric signal, due to a variety of causes. In video, jitter may be caused by synchronization and tracking problems, or problems encountered holding the camera still during taping.

In networking and telecommunications, jitter is any similar instability and/or distortion of a communications line which results in data-transmission errors.
