    Layering

    In a computer drawing program, a means of dividing an illustration into several transparent "overlays" which can be turned on or off, allowing attention to be focused on specific portions of the image.

    In audio recording, layering refers to the combination of several sound sources so as to produce a fuller, richer sound.
