    Low Bulk

A type of paper having a thickness (called bulk or caliper) less than that of other papers of the same basis weight. Low-bulk paper is specially manufactured, is characterized by a smooth surface, and is frequently used for book paper to reduce the thickness of high-page-count books, such as encyclopedias or bibles. (See also High Bulk.)
