    Nitrocellulose

A resinous component of flexographic, gravure, and screen printing inks and lacquers widely used as a film former. Its presence in inks can cause a printing defect known as souring. Nitrocellulose is also known as cellulose nitrate and is any of a variety of nitric esters of cellulose, in particular those types containing less than 12.4% nitrogen. Nitrocellulose is also known as pyroxylin.
