    Orange Book

In multimedia, a set of standards developed for the compact disc format known as compact disc-recordable. The Orange Book standard (so-named because the publication containing the specifications had an orange cover) describes the structure of the disc and the instructions for creating not only CD-Rs, but also magneto-optical discs (in Orange Book 1) and CD-R-WORMs (Orange Book 2). See Compact Disc-Recordable and Compact Disc.

The term Orange Book is also used to refer to the Department of Defense standard for computer security. See National Computer Security Center.
