    Raster Scanning

    In computer display imaging and scanning, producing or capturing (respectively) an image by means of an intensity-controlled, line-by-line sweep across the surface of the display or the image. In computer monitors, raster scanning is the means by which a cathode-ray tube moves across the back of the screen, illuminating phosphors according to the bit map indicated in the frame buffer.
