    Single-Lens Reflex Camera

A type of camera which lacks a separate veiwfinder, a mirror arrangement being used to cast the image coming through the lens aperture up to the eyepiece. Such cameras allow the photogapher to see exactly how the image is likely to appear on the film, at least as far as focusing is concerned. Usually abbreviated SLR.
