    Standard Platform

    A type of computer platform—the basic computer architecture utilized by a particular model of series of models, which defines a certain standard to which application developers must adhere when writing software intended for it—utilized by commonly-available computers, such as Apple Macintoshes, IBM-compatible computers, and UNIX systems. The term standard platform is also descriptive of the particular operating system utilized by these computer, comprising the standard platforms of Macintosh operating system, DOS, Windows, UNIX, and OS/2.
