    Strobing

In scanning, the digitizing of a color image by making only one pass across the image with the scanner optics. All three primary colors—red, green, and blue—are captured successively per pixel. Strobing is an alternative to making three entire passes across the image. See Scanning.

The term strobing also describes a phenomenon of the human visual system that manifests itself as a "double object," usually experienced when viewing animation that does not contain enough frames per second.
