    On a GUI, to position each "window" on the monitor adjacent to each other in a particular pattern, much like floor tiles, rather than overlapping them.

    In page layout, to break a large image down into smaller sections, used for oversize pages or documents when an output device is incapable of imaging the entire page. After output, all the individual "tiles" are reassembled manually.
